Don't Kill Semmelweis
(Hug The Messenger)
Learn about specific dangers associated with change and how to effectively (and safely) navigate change in a way that encourages innovation.
"It is not the strongest of the species that survives, nor the most intelligent, but the one most adaptable to change." -Charles Darwin
“It must be considered that there is nothing more difficult to carry out nor more doubtful of success nor more dangerous to handle than to initiate a new order of things; for the reformer has enemies in all those who profit by the old order.” -Niccolo Machiavelli
This training covers how change is essential but can be dangerous for those leading the charge. Learn what creates those dangers + how to mitigate them, so that you and your teams/organizations can successfully grow and evolve.
Navigating Polarities
(Regain Balance)
When you feel out of balance and are leaning too heavily into one method (structure vs. flexibility, etc.), learn how to get a fresh perspective on managing "both sides" of an issue.
What is a Polarity? Our brains don’t like both/and thinking, but in an increasingly complex world, seemingly opposite states must coexist over time for success to occur (e.g., structure::flexibility, honesty::diplomacy, etc.). This workshop helps you find the unique balance that fits your situation, allowing you to step into a third way that gets the best of both worlds instead of an either/or outcome.
Immunity To Change
(Unblock Yourself)
Utilize a new approach for managing change. Instead of just focusing on the gas pedal and wasting energy pressing down harder, uncover and explore hidden "brake pedal" commitments.
“Most of the time unless we become aware of the unconscious motivations, they will be in control of us and we'll be at their mercy. We need to get that other piece into the equation. There’s mistaken sense that if we're unable to make the change we want to, that the intention must not be sincere enough. We need to make the unseen forces seen so we can make active choices about them.” -Lisa Lahey
This workshop helps map our our unconscious motivations so we can make more intentional choices about them and more effectively implement changes in all aspects of our lives.

Building Psychological Safety
(Innovation > Fear)
Practice behaviors that create psychological safety, allowing you to more effectively discuss and learn from mistakes.
In 2014, Google's 'Project Aristotle' identified psychological safety as the top component of high functioning teams (full New York Times article). Amy Edmondson's original 1999 research from Harvard University identified similar findings. This workshop helps turn theory into practice by integrating behaviors that can make your team, and especially your leaders, more effective.
User Guides
(How To You)
Build team cohesion and increase compatibility of working styles and information processing.
"We wanted to eliminate as many of the barriers that make it difficult for people to work together effectively...one of the most obvious was how to effectively communicate.” -Financial Times
This workshop helps break down those barriers to unlock your team's potential.
Active Listening
(Hear < Understand)
Increase active listening skills to more effectively navigate conflicts and disagreements.
In Patrick Lencioni's 'The 5 Dysfuctions of a Team' the top dysfunction is Absence of Trust (see: 'Building Psychological Safety' training), and the second dysfunction is Fear of Conflict. This training helps build active listening skills that enable people to productively navigate conflict and turn it into an asset.

Leadership Coaching
&
Team/Organizational Effectiveness Consulting
(Enjoy Your Job)
Uncover fresh perspectives and use them to create sustainable new behaviors, whether for yourself, your business, or your team.
"Coaching helps leaders clarify their visions, beliefs, and values, and stretch their capacity to lead and influence. They can then become catalysts for change within their organizations."
"A Metrix Global study found that executive coaching has a 788% return on investment (ROI) based on factors including increases in productivity and employee retention." -American University
Life Notes, Vol. 1
(The Good Stuff)
"Employ your time in improving yourself by other men's writings, so that you shall gain easily what others have labored hard for.” -Socrates
A great resource for many things, especially finding areas and topics for coaching and growth.
This resource was originally over a thousand pages - it’s now 27 pages. It’s a compilation of notes from books, videos, articles, podcasts, courses, and more, over the past 10+ years of my life. It’s my attempt at the Socrates quote, to make things I’ve found meaningful easier for others to access. Look through this document, find what's useful, ask questions about it, and use it to build new behaviors. I'm always happy to have coaching conversations (and conversations in general) about any of this.
